JOPLIN TORNADO LANTZ HARE FOUND DEAD

A 16-year-old Joplin teen was found dead today.

Lantz Hare, who attended the same high school as Will Norton, was also in his car when the tornado hit. Like Norton, Hare was sucked out of his car by the 200 mph winds of the half-mile wide tornado that struck Joplin Sunday afternoon.


Lantz's mother, Michelle, said his car was on one side of the train tracks, but when rescuers found his vehicle, it had been carried several hundred yards across the tracks into a field.

The vehicle was completely totalled: the windshield broken, the hood was smashed, and the driver's side was pushed in against what was once a wooden pole. It would have been nothing short of a miracle if Lantz had survived.
