Just some footage of me heading to the ANZ bank branch in Ho Chi Minh city on the back of a motorbike taxi or xe om as it's called in Vietnamese.

  • It depends on distance and it's best to agree on a price first. You don't pay for gas. If they're not busy then they may wait for you otherwise they'll just leave.

If you're just travelling within district 1 xe om should cost no more than VND15,000 but usually VND10,000 is enough.

It's been nearly a year since I lived there so Vietnam's rapidly rising inflation rates may have lifted prices somewhat.

That particular ride cost VND20,000 and the actual time it took was a bit under 15 minutes.

  • Hello there! I am going to Vietnam next week and was wondering how much you paid for the Xe Om?

Was it Fixed rate or it depends on the distance or traffic?

Did you also pay for the gas and do they wait for you, or they just leave you after you get to your destination like cabs?

Thank you for replying, your information will help a lot!
