[HowTo] Modify Xsplash and GDM Background on Ubuntu 9.10 Linux

As you have already seen the new login screen for Ubuntu Karmic Koala and post gdm xsplash. There doesn't seem to be any utility for changing the splash nor the gdm. But hold on .. where there is a will there is a way..

ok scratch that lol

moving forward.

type the below command on the terminal window

"gksudo -u gdm dbus-launch gnome-appearance-properties"

and change the gdm background

and to modify the xsplash just follow the tutorial..

My pc is not running so why don't you completely remove xsplash and reinstall it?

if you are starting it from bash, then you should only need sudo, whereas you should use gksudo for alt+f2 or anything else

yay! i had already changed the background, but when i pressed enter i briefly got the old throbber and background, but you showed me how to fix that, thanks!

@eXsoR65 isn't that exact same way? you either find or make throbber and the logo as an png, then replace them...
