A massive plume of smoke rises from a rural wildfire near Oswalt Road in Love County Feb. 26, 2009. Fueled by dry vegetation and low humidity, the fire burned for hours across the southern Oklahoma landscape. Shifting winds made fighting the blazes difficult. Just two weeks ago a deadly tornado struck Lone Grove, OK, about 10 miles to the north of today's wildfire.
