Uncle Steve Gets Very Hungry Fish

Uncle Steve ventures down behind the Sycamore Lake Dam in Umstead State Park in Raleigh, NC.

He discovers after a short while that the fish in the pool are trapped like they are in an aquarium, because the river is extremely low.

They are desperate for any food (bait) because so little fresh water feed is coming down the spillway.

Watch Uncle Steve catch 20 fish in 40 minutes while losing two hooks and one bobber.

Fishing location: N35.86274 W78.752173

Date of fishing: 11 NOVEMBER 2010

  • i notice that alot of times when you turn and talk to the camera you always get a bite just tellin you

  • @cmenism I agree: those fish are real sneaky.

  • That's impressive. lol. Sometimes I across this river , climb up the little slope and fish there.

BTW: Have you ever fished at durant natual park?

  • @zzhang13 I have not yet gone to Durant Nature Park. Have you been? What do you think of it?

  • @adamitshelanu No, I haven't. But I plan to try it because I cannot get anything from sycamore lake. :( And the Eno River is really far for me.

I read the threads of ncangler. Some guy described that there are many good place for bank fishing and a lot of structures in the water. A guys named DANNYBOY said that "logs sticking out of the water everywhere there" and " the swimming docks hold a lot of bass". Sounds exciting for me!

  • @zzhang13 Be sure to let me know how it works out! I'm interested in your results.

  • the first cat was a mud (flathead) cat

  • very productive day! catching them left and right.

  • @dancingdebo I've caught two spotted bass this past week from the Eno on the Pump Station side (Rivermont Rd.). You'll see for sure in two days when I post yesterday's fishing trip.

The changing weather is changing the biting-fish populations, and that has been interesting experience so far.

  • Nice little fishing hole right there. That's a cool catfish and bass. I agree, that bass looks like a spotted bass which would be neat. I've never caught a spotted bass and am looking forward to the day I check it off my species list. That cat is new to me too. After looking over the ncwrc website, I would think it is some sort of bullhead or "mudcat" we like to call them. great video as always Uncle Steve. keep em coming! -daniel
