I tried to compare the 2 fighters on 12 criteria that, in my opinion, can define what an all-time champion is.
R1: Speed : It is mainly about hand speed here. I scored it even because I really couldn't decide which one of the 2 was faster in their primes.
R2: Power: I obviously gave it to Tyson. He is known to knock opponents out with both hands and he is a 1-punch KO artist. Most of Ali KO's came after a lot of battering in the previous rounds and are also due to exhaustion.
R3: Chin: I gave it to Tyson, even though it is commonly admitted that Ali had one of the greatest chins of all-time. The reason is Ali went down after a single punch to the jaw. Ali may be staggered by a single punch and his jaw has been broken by Norton, not the hardest puncher there is. What made Ali's chin great, in my opinion, is his will to win and to get up. But physically I think Tyson, with his huge neck, cannot be staggered or put down by a single punch, it takes a lot of battering to do it. Tyson had the stronger chin, he just didn't have Ali's will to get up.
R4:Body: Same here. Ali was floored by a single punch to the body against Cooper and Wepner, not all-time punchers. He was staggered a few times also. Even if the Foreman rope-a-dope is impressive, Tyson was never ever worried by body punches. That also why there aren't many footage of it, his opponents almost never tried it.
R5: Stamina: I gave it to Ali because he was a distance fighter, Tyson needed to win quick. Ali stamina was build for 15 rounds, Tyson was fading in the later rounds. Plus it is known that Tyson had respiratory problems.
R6: Footwork: Even know Tyson was able to cut the ring effectively and to move quite well in his prime, Ali footwork can be considered superior. It's not only about dancing it's also about moving in and out of danger zone with precision and timing.
R7: Mental: Obviously gave it to Ali, known for beating mentally his opponents by talking to them and never ever giving up. On the contrary Tyson was known to be easily frustrated, becoming angry, losing his game plan and searching for the 1 punch KO, forgetting his jab and head movement. Footage show example of bad mental (low blows, fouls, getting angry) and strong mental (getting up after KD).
R8: Agility. This was tough to decide. Tyson in his prime was very good at sleeping punches with his bob-and-weave movement but I think Ali was doing as good if not better at sleeping punches by only inches, reacting within a fraction of a second. Plus Ali kept his agility much longer in his career than Tyson did, fading after only 2 or 3 years of his prime.
R9: Fear effect: even if Ali was no joke, Tyson was probably one of the most feared fighters in history, so I logically gave that one to Tyson.
R10: Cuts: it measures the ability of the fighter to resist to cuts and swollen eyes. Tyson was much more cut than Ali during his career. Even if Tyson style exposed him a lot, Ali took a lot of punches too in the second part of his career but still resisted amazingly to these injuries. I gave it to Ali.
R11: Corner: I gave it to Ali because it is better to stay with a good coach that knows you like Ali did with Angelo Dundee, his doctor Pacheco and his friend Bundini. They made an experienced team that last for 20 years in his corner. On the contrary, even if tyson had a good coach at the beginning with Kevin Rooney, he soon lost his mentor D'Amato then choose to leave Rooney for the Don King Team, was badly helped by Aaron Snowell against Douglas then had a good trainer Richie Giachetti but changed again numerous times.
R12: Record. Ali's record his far better than Tyson's. More fights, more rounds, more titles, more titles defenses. Revenges won prove that he is able to learn his mistakes, study an opponent and beat him in the rematch. He last way longer at his top than Tyson. Plus he faced much tougher opposition and still did better.
It went there the distance for the purpose of comparing them in the video, but if that fight had happen I would say it would probably end like this :
TKO r9 or 10 due to cuts above Tyson left eye, Tyson's poor stamina and weaker mental. Tyson deducted 1 point in r6 for repeated low blows and fouls. Tyson scored a KD with a vicious body shot on the 3rd round, but Ali survived thanks to his will.

i think Ali has the speed and stamina, tyson liked to pressure his guys alot get them to open their bodies or chins up when throwing a punch and tyson would catch'em this would be a problem for Ali but as we have seen time and time again Ali has danced away from his opponent and when he did get cornered he took incredible body shots! (Ali VS Foreman). Now im a tyson fan as well love his power and his ability to end fights extremely fast but his style was a style Ali could easily put to shame!
