Power outage at work

This was a bad way to start any evening. All the power in the entire building went off and we have no generators to keep our servers running.

So that all means while the power was out, I was stressing, hoping I wouldn't have much trouble getting everything back up again. Luckily, I had no problems with the ISP servers and minimal problems with the data servers. The largest problem was I didn't have access to a couple LINUX servers in the accounting department.

Obviously, for security reasons, they don't supply me that key....and I really don't want one anyway. That is a responsibility I can do without.

Hey jason i know how it feels dude i bought out a small building filled it with computers and the day i got all moved in BAM HUGE power outage the very minute i get all the servers up it SuX heres a small suggestion get a generator because you lose about 15-20 people during downtime thats in 1 hour

We (the IT department) have been lobbying for a generator for the past few years.

Its pretty cool, really. Our owners made a few calls during all of that and they found an old military grade generator the army base was going to loan us. Luckily, the power came back on shortly after they found it. The wiring would have been a nightmare.

when the power goes out where i work they have like 4 generators. it sucks cause the power goes back on almost right away. do u like working at night. funny stuff at the end.

I wish we had a good size generator. This black out caused more work for me. The company I work for provides an online service and I'm responsible all of those servers. A 3 hour downtime is simply unacceptable.

Yeah, I like working evenings. My brain functions better at night.

Oh yeah. Luckily, Tuesdays are slow days for us...and thank God it didn't happen last Tuesday.

The messed up thing is, no matter how long the power was off, I wasn't allowed to leave until the power came back on and our servers were put back online. I really hope we get a generator out of all of this. At least a 15k Watt.

lol, at school. were just doing work in 4th hour that BAM! everything went black! i mean really in my teachers room, it's black! Some car hit a power line just right outside the school. Yea if only if it was out for an hour, then we can go home. :)

My friends were outside when the truck hit the pole, they told me it was like watching fireworks with bright blue sparks.
