  • I went down to the beach. It was the best experience of our trip! The hike up does kill though, and we're young- and thought we were in good shape!

  • Aloha-

Next time you're here, try hiking down to the beach at Waipi'o Valley--a much larger valley and beach--it's harder, yes, but also that much more rewarding (WATERFALLS!)...

    Thanks for the comment...

  • i read that the trail to the 2nd valley from the north(after pololu) was ruined with the earthquake in 06 is it reopened?

also is that trail safe(i dont mean terrain wise, but really safety from crazy people wise).

I read alot about hikes into the second valleys from both directions. esp for the falls.

    thanks

  • The trail is open again...narrow, muddy and nerve-wracking in the rain, but fortunately rather short...

Crazy people-wise? I've only met goodly and kindly people in and around Pololu, except for the Kohala Ditch riders who don't like you trespassing on ranch property, somewhat understandably. Crazies are everywhere, but usually, the further from the car you get, the less likely you are to encounter then. I do recommend doing this...it's gorgeous and rewarding and usually quite private.

  • yo...vhich country is this..

  • Uh--Hawaii has been a State in the United States of America almost 50 years now. Pololu Valley is on the north end of Hawaii Island, the Big Island in the Hawaiian archipelago.

There are residents, however, who make a cogent and compelling argument that the US annexation of Hawaii was illegal and the Kingdom of Hawaii is itself an illegally occupied, but independent nation.

    You decide.
