Can it be possible to remove the IR filter from the phone's main camera?
Then, could it work with a IR focusable laser illuminator so that the camera can be used as a night vision camera? That could then be used on a air rifle's scope for night hunting! I already used it in daylight through a scope... Video added.
If it works, this could be the best and lightest way to recording night hunting!

can you get a replacement battery and do a changeover this way? my biggest fear with my fantastic n8 is the battery will one day start to die and won't be able to change. This looks like it could be easy!
