Light opera Maura O`Connell Irish singer

Then You'll remember Me

When other lips and other hearts ... their tales of love shall tell ...
In language whose excess imparts ... the pow'r they feel so well ...
There may perhaps in such a scene ... some recollection be ...
Of days that have as happy been ... and you'll remember me ...
And you'll remember, you'll remember me ...
When coldness or deceit shall slight ...
The beauty now they prize ...
And deem it but a faded light ... which beams within your eyes ...
When hollow hearts shall wear a mask ... 'twill break your own to see ...
In such a moment I ... but ask ... that you'll remember me ...
That you'll remember, that you'll remember me.

  • Normally sung by a tenor.

  • I understand, I have John McCormack amongst other tenors singing this, Maura makes a nice change.

  • Sorry, cerebroruar0227, try Google again, I see the music for the song, but, you will have to pay for it.

  • musician0024, The music for Then you`ll remember me can be had by typing in, The Bohemian Girl,[Then you`ll remember me][music]

  • She was singing with De Danann at the time, this dates from around 1990, I also John McCormack singing this.

  • Then you`ll remember me, from The Bohemian Girl by Irish composer Michael Balfe 1808-1870, Maura O`Connell sings this old favourite.

  • Really not a good version of this song - too fast and muffled diction with notes not being held long enough. There is also a harshness of tone after the breaths that, I confess, reminds me of a pub singer belting one out.

Apart from that, it was fine. :)

  • Nice voice, but doesnt hit the proper chords or have the passion this song needs.. John McCormack is the go to for this song.

  • I know this song from Laurel and Hardy's The Bohemian Girl. I really like this song

  • another comment: when I learned to play this tune (from a music sheet) on the trumpet, I did'nt know the tune at the time...I realize now that I played the tune much faster than it should have been played...

  • its actually really nice sung in soprano or mezzo-soprano

  • one of the first numbers I learned on the trumpet when I was still a teen, ages, ages ago...I'm proud to say I still have the music sheet...

  • puh-leez post mccormack's early recording!!! i haven't heard it in 20 years; my player is busted
