I don't believe all zoos are inhumane, but sadly many are substandard in their treatment of animals and give the rest a bad name. There are some excellent zoos which have important conservation, endangered species breeding and education programs and provide healthy habitats and enrichment for their animals. The day I shot this video I just wanted to spend some time with the animals at the Portland Zoo. I was sadly surprised at what I saw.
