Takes like 3 seconds to tell it's going to be bad ass.

elvis Stole the songs people, he gave no credit to blacks because it was not popular with his white audience. He stole all he could and, no one got credit but elvis. most of the rock and roll inventors lost a lot of money due to elvis.

@AliYourBrother "we Blacks sing white people's songs, too. You know? It aint like Elvis stole the song. He gave credit where credit's due." Yeah, it was just normal for a Billie Holiday to record a song that had been introduced by Fred Astaire. The people who think Elvis ripped people off are influenced by myths -- that Elvis was racist, that "covering" a song and paying the songwriter is somehow _immoral_, when it was industry practice, Billie or Elvis -- that are just myths.

@AliYourBrother I agree. Elvis was black, he was born in a black neighbourhood, he was brought up in a black neighbourhood, the music he was brought up on was black music, he went to a black church, the only difference being was that Elvis' skin was white.

@igetsomepussy187 Black Memphis DJ Rufus Thomas 'stole' the song before Elvis was even famous by bring out a song called 'Bear Cat' same tune, different title so why do you say that Elvis 'stole' the song? How can you say Elvis never gave credit to black people when its a fact he did?

Thornton recorded this in 1952, Elvis in 1956.

This has become one of my favorite guitar songs. I did some research and the player is a guy named Pete Lewis, from the Johnny Otis Band; you can find an article about him by searching pete guitar lewis on google. After the recent passing of Johnny Otis, I heard on the radio that Mr. Otis himself is the drummer on this song.

@danimartins88 You're right, we Blacks don't need to hate Elvis for singing Black folks' songs. I mean, we Blacks sing white people's songs, too. You know? It aint like Elvis stole the song. He gave credit where credit's due.
"The colored folks been singing it and playing it just like I'm doin' now for more years than I know....I got it from them." - Elvis telling the Charlotte Observer on June 26, 1956. An excerpt from Blue Monday, Fats Domino and The Lost Dawn Of Rock 'N' Roll, by Rick Coleman.
