an acetate is a disc cut prior to the cutting of the master disc which is used for the mass production of records.

acetates are very fragile "records" basically that are used like a proof in photography.

many times they were cut and then it was decided not to use that particular cut (song) as part of the official release. Thus, many acetates survive as a means of obtaining songs that otherwise would never be in the public domain.

In an interview, Lou said that this was conveying Warhol's philosophy that art is anything you need it to be. I don't know. I guess art is passion and love is art -- both acts of creation with depths of feeling that cannot be otherwise described -- so its all good. I love this song.

This is a powerful love song but could also apply to a close friend. She may not be able to hit the highs as well others but the huskiness of Nico's voice lends a sadness and level of emotion that would otherwise be missing.
