@shonenjumpfan because Charlie had to lock the door to keep the water from flowing out. And he couldn't lock it if he was on the outside. Then it would've flooded the Looking Glass and Desmond would've died as well. Plus, Charlie knew he needed to die so the rest of the survivors could be rescued.

@shonenjumpfan he knew it was hs destiny to die. If he hadn't, then nobody would have got saved. Kinda like the theory if you kill a mosquito in the past, it could drastically change the future.

Why did he shut the door?! What was that guy trying to accomplish? That he blow up a window? If he didn't close the stupid door, they would have plenty of time for Desmond to figure out it wasn't Penny's boat, and they both could have been on their way.
