This disappeared from their website a few months ago but I found it elsewhere. It's a very cinematic advert, and the tone and words used in it were the subject of quite a few complaints. People didn't like being told that if they speeded, then they were going to kill someone. Or something.

  • I get the whole speeding is bad but he was not even around most of the people the ad said he was going to kill when he was on the rode. That's the part I don't get

  • @ThePinkBlob123 The problem is that you are taking the ad literally at face value. It's not meant to be that he will kill the people shown in the video, it's a more general "you could kill people like these" - it's supposed to make you stop and think about your behaviour.

  • Note it didn't say anything on the shot of the dog. He could of killed the dog too.

  • The shot on the dog is sad... it almost seems purposeful. Like "he could of killled... eh.. oh well."

  • I think it's a good provocative road safety ad' that goes for the psychological element very strongly, but I think the message is lost a little with the length of the ad. If they went straight from the bus passenger to the car it would have been more effective and then using some or all of the spare 10 seconds for a longer shot of his dangerous driving. It'd get a reckless driver's attention or a parent, but I think this ad was a lost opportunity with a good idea.

  • I was actually considering making my own sort of PSA-like video, using the mathematical modeling behind these events as the foundation (and with a healthy serving of LTNZ-style shock value). :)

  • @1RadicalOne I can wholeheartedly support more maths talk on my uploads. In fact, if people want to start mathing out the accidents in the footage and we can see which ads get it right and which get it wrong, that would be quite fascinating.

  • Let me tell you a little something. Ek = (mv^2)/2. That little v-squared means that your speed has a QUADRATIC effect on the damage you do. Two meters per second (7.2kph), two times the mass of your vehicle. 10m/s (36 kph), a hundred times. 17m/s (61kph), 145 times. 36 m/s, (120 kph), 1304 times. 44 m/s (158 kph), almost two thousand times.

    Need I say more?

  • @wuzzlevideos oh well if people use common sense an can slow down around corners and curves

  • @ChrisBennett18 Yes but if you're going too fast, then there's too much energy, and you'll come off worse.

  • @wuzzlevideos i never said you need to be a good driver all i said is how you handle your car and be paying attention so that you can avoid the unexpected
