    I watch the documentary, I hear some comments from him when he was passing for Australia, that makes me think that he was hired only to do three orbits, I'm not quite sure also the signal received for mission control, about the loosen heat shield, I'm not certain when mission control was aware of the problem if it was in flight, or when he was commanded to reentry, I must look carefully.

    i dont think it was fake, i mean y would they spend so much a fake hollywood set when they could actually do it! like this if u think it was real

    The "Go For 7 Orbits" indicated the capsule's capability to keep Glenn alive, should sudden bad weather in the prime splashdown area force him to stay in space longer than the three scheduled orbits.

    I was also the most-watched event in the history of American television to that point. Some 85 million people saw the blast-off live.
