Oulu (Swedish: Uleåborg) literally: "Ule River Castle" is a city and municipality of 133,541 inhabitants (31 December 2008)[2] in the province of Oulu and the region of Northern Ostrobothnia, in Finland. It is the largest and most important city in Northern Finland and the sixth largest city in the country. Its population growth rate is almost comparable with that of the Helsinki Metropolitan Area. Oulu has a namesake in the United States, Oulu, Wisconsin, which is a village with a population of about 540.

Yes Oulu is a beuatiful northern town in Finland with good university and much IT industry. And Oulu has 4 seasons for sure. Now it´s spring out there and violent light is suddenly everywhere...

Thanks. I have never visited Kankaanpää. Maybe I should. But i`m going to Oulu in January 2011 to see ice hockey and white frozen winter Oulu which I made a video clip also in last winter with my Nokia N96 (Now i am going to buy Nokia N8 which has HD quality video and 12 Mp camera.). You can find "White Frozen Winter Oulu" also from CloverTV´s channel in Youtube.

I moved away from Oulu 25 years ago. But I have nothing against it. I visit there couple of time a year.Take it easy, Oulu is great place for sure!

Life ain´t fare. Life is hard and then you die. But the biggest foreign minority in Finland are the Russians. I don´t have any probelems with them. I only see them on Sundays in the Malmi swimming hall. Russians like to take baths for sure....

Winnipeg is colder. I walk twenty minutes home in -25 C and still feel warm. Todays high was -15 C. Today's normal high is -13 C.

This winter has been cold even here on the south coast of Finland. Average temperature has been during Christmas time here in Helsinki below -10 C. This is very rare here. But great city of Winnipeg is colder for sure!
