  • In what album is this song from?

  • The album is "Carpenters: Interpretations"

  • At approximately 1:52 you can hear Karen turn her music sheet over. This was indeed a work lead, recorded and forgotten: one take on the vocal!!! Brilliant. I would have liked to have had this on "Horizon" also, not to mention "Sailing On The Tide", which was recorded around the same time. Both tracks were finished after Karen's passing. Richard did an amazing and beautiful job. Please don't forget his enormous talent.

  • As "FindingKC" pointed out, going into the second verse you can hear Karen turning the pages of the music sheet. The reason is because this performance is what's known as a "work lead", which is kind of a rehearsal and not necessarily a take that is meant to be used as final. The fact that a quick straight take can be sung so flawlessly is further proof (as if this was needed) that Karen's talent was enormous and unique — it has never been equalled, and it will never be.

  • i love this song by the carpenters x

  • One of their finest recordings in my opinion - even though it's just a work lead for Karen. What a perfect sound.

  • Geez. A lot of catty comments regarding this recording vs. Barry Manilow's. Singing is like acting. Some people are skilled but they're just not right for a role. I think Manilow was right for this song. As singers go, no one can touch KC. No one. But Manilow's version is rock solid, definitive.

  • this is so much beauty than the version of Barry Manilow, without diminishing this last

  • i believe, that MS. CARPENTER did the first recording of this but it was NEVER RELEASED cause RiCHARD find it iNAPPROPRiATE to include it on their album and MR. MANiLOW asked RiCHARD if he can record the song and do some arrangement on the lyrics for a male part.

THiS was only released in their ANNiVERSARY ALBUM when RiCHARD was thinking of some songs to be included and thought it was the perfect time for the fans to hear this UNPUBLiSHED work of KAREN!...

    iRREPLACEABLE talent..

  • Still not over you, Karen. Perfection.

  • piękne, jak wszystkie piosenki w wykonaniu Karen

  • Beautiful voice and instrumentation, but I think there's too much lyrical variation - I would have kept the lyrics more in-line with the Manilow version. They were already so good. But still, this is a STUNNING version.

  • A good effort, Karen, but no one comes close to Barry.

  • Karen and Barry were friends.

He should have produced her singing this song.

    It would have been classic.
