Most people say they feel confident their home is protected because their dog is standing guard. But when their owners are gone, would dogs stand up to the plate and protect their house? KXLY4's Tori Brunetti has the answer.

  • Why don't they test this with a dog that's meant for protection. Put a Boerboel, Rott, Doberman, GSD or Pitbull in the yard and see what happens.

  • My GSD Cyrus would have ripped the door off it's hinges,to get at that guy.

  • I disagree my lab shepard Luke is extreamly nice and has never bitten anyone but nearly bit me when I entered the bedroom my wife and he were already alseep in. I am not sure if he would attack someone coming into my home with no one there but if my wife or I were there no one would get 5 feet inside my front door with out a lot of blood loss.

  • This is a very stupid test. I have a German Shepard. She was only 2 when this happened, Someone tried to break into my house and I wasn't there, and well to say it easily, she bit off most of his hand and face. Sure the police took care of the dude( he lived ) But cleaning up the mess was not very fun.

  • This is a stupid test. Try some agressive breeds, that i'd be curious about.

    *sorry for my poor English

  • @Syst3m04 Charlie looked Pit bullish, lol.

  • A 200lbs dog is all you need, it wouldn't protect, it would kill lol.

  • my dog protected my house 3 yrs ago. and now he is my hero and my baby at the same time.. all dogs arent the same there are some dogs that get scared and some others that will act to defend his or hers family.

  • yeah that's not a normal gsd, these days they're around the 100 pound mark

  • WOW. How stupid are these people? You can google "Learn about Labs" or retrievers and know they wouldnt attack in that sort of situation. And a 25 lb dog? REALLY? If someone wanted to break in theyd kick it with their boot and it would ball up in a corner somewhere. How about an untrained GSD or Pitt, Rottweiler etc. My Lab/Shepherd "Koda" will never allow anyone near our door whether we are there or not (have tested) She snarles and barks and is ready to go until I allow the guest in.

  • well retriever and labradors maybe aint the dogs they should test... a bit unprofessional... where are some breeds like schnauzer, shepherd, doberman...
