Socialism has one major problem that most social-science teachers would absolutely agree upon. Socialism can ONLY work if everyone stands together as ONE organism, ONE nation, ONE people, which is exactly why socialism can't work without this Tall Puppy Syndrome (Jante-Law (Janteloven). As the Tall Puppy Syndrome creates the perfect circle of evil. The guardian of society or society's secret police. Where YOU preferably all though childhood is held down, indoctrinated, with these inhibitions. In other words, you are mentally manipulated, never to be better than, or stand out from the organism, the other socialists.

  • Vatpikkens paradis. "Denmark paradise of the ones who lie to themselves”. Yes Danes are content, brainwashed with socialism from childhood to become totalitarian people. This being the reason why Danes are rated the happiest, as Danes can’t talk truly negative about Denmark. I compared Denmark’s suicide –rate to America's as American life is many times harder, yet Denmark’s suicide –rate is higher, and if socialism created happier people as they proclaim, would the suicide –rate not be lover?

  • @ForeverComplaining Depends on the type of socialism. For instance, there is no poverty in Mondragon, they use a cooperative market socialist model very similar to anarcho-syndicalism and it works wonders.

Truly, socialism is a broadly defined term, it can apply to many commonly controlled systems from state socialism to libertarian socialism. Some forms have been proven to work very well, some have proven complete and utter failures.

  • @Laughingblades Socialism would rather the poor were poorer provided the rich were less rich.

Clearly you're unaware of Communism and Socialism in practice, whereby people are starved and the poor are in a poorer and harsher position, forced to do slave labour for nothing and also the rich aren't effected - they just run abroad.

Your socialist beliefs do not come down to any real logic, rather they come down to your immature envy of those who have worked hard and created wealth. Ignorant.

  • So what's better, democratically owning the state which provides goods and services as needed by the general public, or paying private corporations who you have no control over for goods they make only to make a profit? Which is better, a system in which your individual rights to food, shelter, and a decent standard of living are guaranteed, or a system in which your right to such things is predicated on your ability to obtain capital? Capitalism, it's great if you're rich, and loved by idiots.

  • In a socialist democracy the people own the state, and the state exists to serve the people. A private market may or may not exist, if one does it is regulated by the general public by proxy of the state (which they own and determine the functions of). The quote that accompanies this is roughly translated, "A state that does not exist to serve it's people, does not deserve to exist".

Clearly economic social darwinism (capitalism) is better, even though it destroys the elderly and infirmed.

  • Clearly Economic Social Darwinism (Capitalism) is better for everyone, except the poor, and the informed, and the elderly who weren't rich enough to put money back. Also, many Socialist states tend to have more diversity than you're letting on. In fact you don't seem to know anything about socialism, or social democracy, or communism other than idiotic United States propaganda designed to make you associate socialism and communism with third world shit holes and soviet Russia.
