Martha --from Col. Gallardo - Balfate, Colon-- is one of the thousands of young, poor Honduran girls that finish secondary school each year and that due to the poor conditions of their families and lack of opportunities for disadvantaged people in Honduras because of the big social, economic gap between those who have and those who lack the resources in Honduras, would not have the opportunity to continue a college education. Thanks to a private, US-based initiative called The Leadership University around the mountains of Zambrano, HN (http://www.theleadershipuniversityofhonduras.com), that is sponsoring scholarships for poor, disadvantaged girls like her, she has now started college to earn a bachelor's degree in BA plus mastering English as a second language.
