  • Come on guys a little help. All it takes is a short 30 sec clip to submit to the CNN/Youtube Republican Debate. This is absolutley free and provides a chance for this issue to be aired live nation wide on CNN Nov 28. Deadline is Nov 25. Get your cameras rolling and submit your own video.

  • It is irrelevant how much retired disabled veterans earn. Veterans, male or female, are members of less than 1 percent of our society that serve our nation in the armed forces. Case by case basis? You in the 99%? Vets, especially disabled and retired, fully deserve what they have been contractually guaranteed by DoD and the USG. Suggesting that they deserve anything less is not worthy of discussion. Repeal the 30 year old, out-of-date USFSPA.

  • That law needs to taken on a case by case basis, the problem I have with military pensions is now if your rating is over 50% you receive both your military retirement plus your full tax free VA pension ( an AF senior master at 90% rating$ 2300 a month military pension+ $2100 a month VA pension for a grand total of $4400 a month for doing nothing, provided by the taxpayers at $53,000 a yr is it any wonder why thegoverment cant pay its bills, oh they also receive Social Security also its criminal!

  • no i think the law there for right reasons

it was made so the men dont leave home

ton of navy arm and mar air wifes are stay at home moms there alot thay have deal with day to day bases

  • Let's all not forget to keep writing our elected REPS and tell them this law needs REPEALED or major changes must finally benefit the military member. Re-classification from property to "INCOME" would be a good start seeing how everyone but our state divorce courts and the federal law thinks that MRP is a pension and marital property. It is income earned after retirement and when you are divorced any and all income made by a person should be theirs to keep except for child support.

  • HATE to tell you the Bad news chick a dee, but our retainer is not retirement, nor is it a "qualified pension plan" our Congress just got away with something and doesn't want to correct it

  • Furthermore, in presenting an ex post facto act for Executive Signature, the 97th Congress became an accessory and abettor to causing the President to violate his Oath of Office, also specified in the Constitution (Art 2, Sec 1:, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution). Notwithstanding, each and every President since Ronald Regan has also violated their Oath of Office by allowing the unconstitutional USFSPA to remain in statute!

  • The U.S. Constitution, Article 1, Section 9 - No (Bill of Attainder) or ex post facto law shall be passed, explaining that the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the USA and it was written in the mid-late 1700s. When the 97th Congress enacted (Sep 1982) the USFSPA and sent it to then-President Reagan for signature, with the provision in the first sentence of its paragraph ©(1) that states, beginning after June 25, 1981, the 97th Congress violated the prohibition of Art 1, Sec 9.

  • Retention pay is a form of an Insurance Policy. The government makes a reduced monthly payment to maintain their Insurance (military members off active duty after 20 years) in the event they would be needed at a later date. Since most Americans prefer to have a choice whether or not to join the military and not be automatically drafted upon graduating from high school or college, the All Volunteer Forces was initiated.
