This poem was part of Richard Feynman's address to National Academy of Sciences in 1955.

The music score is "It's A Life" from the opening scene of Truman Show.

  • Thank you for this beautiful video.

Unfortunately, the first lines of the poem are missing:

    There are the rushing waves

    mountains of molecules,

each stupidly minding its own business

    trillions apart

yet forming white surf in unison.

    Ages on ages (etc ...)

If you have the chance to edit the video, it will make more sense and it will be even more beautiful once it is displayed in its entirety.

  • @GoffredoAG Thanks for liking my video. Unfortunately, I am stuck with what I have uploaded. That's YouTube's policy.

  • This is awesome, I love it.

  • truly beautiful, we don't need religion to give us a sense of awe or beauty...the natural universe and science alone are enough to fill us with awe and wonder.

  • Of all of the videos and heartwarming documentaries on youtube how is it that THIS little clip was the one to make me cry? WTF? Fuc*ing Feynman. Son of a bitch is even a Goddam poet. It's interesting because I don't look up to anyone, except for Richard Feynman. Just him. Thats it.

  • @bercik29 Thanks for enjoying my video, bercik29!

  • @wownov83 No, he is not much of a poet. But, his remarks on how simple molecules evolved to living organisms are quite inspirational.

  • Well... he's not much of a poet.
