When it comes to something like that, and the worst that will happen is you get sprayed, and end up smelling bad, go for it. Stink is a pretty small price to pay for helping an animal trapped by human devices...we sort of deserve to get sprayed in a way.
It comes off with tomato juice anyway ;)

I am happy you were able to save him. This is a very cruel way to die. Some get attacked by predators if they do not starve to death. I am writing General Mills about this and will not buy any of their products until they redesign the cup. They did a facile redesign that did not help. They are heartless and callous.

@threeby8887 On second thought, calling Animal Control is an even better idea. They can take the cup off the skunk's head AND relocate it far away from us people.

@KMRagan Better yet, shoot that thing in the head. That way the skunk no longer has to suffer and also that skunk will not go on to move into someone's lawn or underneath a house--maybe even yours.

LOL at the end "I would do it"

Im pretty sure it was a skunk as it unloaded a foul smelling odor of the cows nearby after being freed from impending death.
