He's right. I had 50 pounds to lose. 56 year old female. I was eating 6 small low fat meals a day and working out/lifting weights 6 days a week. I gained 1 pound a month. I read his book, stopped working out (cause at first I was sore everywhere till my body got used to using fat instead of sugar) and lowered the carbs to 20 a day. I have lost 34 pounds 6 months. I have just begun to work out again to firm up. I decided to be my own guinea pig.

This man is a rarity among men. He speaks the truth regardless of the forces aligned against him. I've talked with thousands of chronic T2 diabetics, and I know Dr. Carlson has it on the money.

Listen carefully, he wasn't speaking out against exercise. He simply stated that you do not need to exercise to loose weight.

40 years ago the conventional thinking was that we should be on a high protein/ low carbohydrate diet. At this time obesity was rare.
Then nutritionists said we had it backwards, it was fat that made us fat and we switched to a high carbohydrate/low fat diet. Now obesity has become an epidemic.
Obviously we had it right 40 years ago.

He is debunking the myth that exercise is "needed" to lose weight. This has nothing to do with the benefits of exercise for body composition.

I think the video is great! If you think what he says cant be true, read his book and it will prove to you that it is! Dr. Jim loves a challenge, bring it on!..As far as what mczar25 below says, Dr. Jim never said he was AGAINST exercise, what he said is that it is a myth that you need exercise to lose weight. We need more doctors on OUR side the patients, and as a patient of his for about 15 years he is by far the best and most knowledgeable!

mczar25, he basically say that exercise will not let us loose weight. I dont think he really speak out against or has problems with exercise for the other health benefits it might have.I agree with him and like Gary Taubes says in his book Good Calories Bad Calories, exercise makes us hungry. We dont exercise because we get fat. We get fat because we exercise :)
