Could someone please tell us what part of Ger. is Sudfunk? I noted that the clarinetist that gave Mr. K. trouble in the Der Frieschutz piece is here as well!! Hope he wasn't a jerk here!!

The best Conductor Ever. The Diabolic Musician, The flute of God. My Carlos Kleiber. More then genius. He is music Himself.

I'm an C. Kleiber fan since decades. From a different perspective, this is an impressive demonstration of authentic leadership. Kleiber is friendly positive in his feedback,is sketching images moods and scenes (visioning the unspeakable, see levels of reality mindell), at the same time bringing humour and laughter for the musicians, with a continuous self-dissociating (ego-death) humility. Exemplary leadership. The result, as we know: spectacular.

He talks a lot, but it always makes sense....

Celibidache once met C. Kleiber and asked him: " why you always play so fast?"

Kleiber knew what he wanted and why he wanted it, he was always meticulously prepared, he was extremely cultured, and what charisma!
You won't find many conductors of this class...
When Kleiber tells the violins to do "super staccato" almost like a horse gallop, I can't help but wonder if Kleiber learned how to ride horses as a boy growing up in Argentina (kids were almost expected to be riders back then).
Kleiber's gentle but firm style of teaching the orchestra is similar to how great equestrians handle their horses.

Kleiber is starting to show some fatigue in part 3 of this rehearsal, though he still maintains his musical vision and focus.
Every time the orchestra lapses back into unfocused disjointed straight-ahead plodding, Kleiber cracks the whip and snaps them back into focus. I'm amazed at his patience and kindness, as the orchestra makes the same heavyhanded mistakes that they made earlier in the other two installments.
