She is of very sound mind, body and soul. I won't go into her history...but let's just say she was ridden as though she were a quarter horse by a man who was too large for her for six years. The last 5 months have been heaven for her as a 12 year old girl got her mind re-set from this man's "cowboy" ways. She walks through the bit from improper riding..and her head carriage is VERY high for even a Walker, she is upside down and needs some muscle building at a walk for the next 30 days. She needs and will gain about 75 pounds and is generally an easy keeper. This is all fixable... she also needs to understand that with me she can stay out of trouble... Doing all this retraining stuff without a round pen... has been very interesting to say the least. Dusty doesn't spook at ANYTHING..she is SOLID as a rock that was and has seen every kind of situation under the sun.
She is the perfect size at 14.2..and goes about 1100 bounds, is typical Walker build and has Midnight Sun in her lines. I consider her a rescue horse because of the cowboy ways she has been thru with a rider that is too heavy for her...she tried every trick in the book to get him off her back..The more she fought to "expel" him (poor dear, she couldn't buck or rear because he was so big) the more he cowboyed her. I just won't go into what I think about that. This is just another testimony what horses will do when overloaded with rider and gear weight beyond their maximum carrying capacity. Confirmationally she is solid (it's a miracle) even thru that... We will be doing SLOW work to get her loosened up over the next 30 days...poor dear was ridden like a quarter horse so she is pretty much the "dosriflexed" horse at the moment..and STIFF necked to her right...
