I think this guy sums up every Guitar solo I ever loved in my life.

As a big fan of Steely Dan I absolutely loved the tribute and have watched it several times since stumbling on it a week ago. If you want to get into a debate about creativity - everything is derivative and builds on what comes before. But as Hank points out - that is not what this clip is about - so get over yourselves lads.

This is just great! I have been listening to steely dan for 20 years and this sound just great Best I have heard on the web so far.

Expertly played - not an easy task for any guitarist, unless you're Guthrie Govan!

Hank... just fantastic. I've been watching this everyday for over a month. Your ability to switch gears between Carlton, Baxter, Dias, Beckett, etc.,... just awe inspiring. I have yet to learn even one of these solos....

Hank:
As a long time SD fan I am thrilled that you came up with this SD best of lead guitar solo medley. It really showcases your superb guitar playing skills while highlighting the brilliance of the original performances coaxed from Mssrs Fagen and Becker. It is also one of the best portals for introducing a whole new generation of listeners to Steely Dan and a master lesson on playing lead Jazz guitar.
Keep up the great work and thanks again.

Wow, that was just amazing. I loved the extra minute of Kid Charlemagne you did at the end!

Now I have to go and clean up.

Hank,
These covers of solos are usually awful but I was pleasently surprised by your passage of music here. Things that stood out were the tone and the smoothness of your playing, fretting and picking hand had were lockied in to the groove very nicely.
How much of that as a percentage was improv.
Cheers
Jon
Thanks Odnog, glad you enjoyed! I never thought of that last point, but that's very true!

It's an early 80's Ibanez Artist. The amp is a Mos Valve with an 80's GK guitar preamp an a couple EV 12" open back speakers. All the overdrive and clean tones are from the GK.
