Monstergardens.com Helps to answer the burning question, "Is a Digital Ballast more efficient than a Magnetic Ballast?" You be the judge.
These are things to consider. All digital ballast's put off a minimal or more amount of RF interference. The longer the lamp cord runs from your ballast to bulb, the loner the "antenna" becomes that creates this interference (usually effects radio or am signals). The quantum runs with very little interference (it take a lot of ballasts, and lamp cord to notice), but some digital lights, especially the generic ones, have a LOT of interference.
And the magnetic ballast, of course, does not have this problem.
The magnetic we were testing claimed to be "silent" but it still ha d a hum.
The Quantum tested a higher DB rating of about 5% higher (because of the internal fans). But the fans keep the ballast from over heating.
The Quantum had more PAR and Lumen output to the magnet with the same exact bulb and reflector used with the magnetic. The bulb was a SunMaster 600, and it was not a digital bulb.
For the past 4 years I have sold the Quantum's I have heard very little about a certain bulb type failing. So with the Quantum you are good to grow with any bulb type (within the wattage).
The Quantum's dimmable feature kicks butt. You might not think you would use it, but you will. This one ballast can spark an HPS and MH bulb, run 120 -240v, and dim!
We sell a lot of these, look us up!

This was a simple test. We have only scratched the surface.
