Yeah, it's because humans are not tape recorders. Our memories are influenced by several stimuli, even changed by how the questions are asked ("What did the murderer look like?" vs. "was the murderer a tall man?"). Eyewitness testimonies are not reliable and should only be used as clues, not as the only source of information for investigators.

Seeing this, someone should come and try to defend death penalty again...

it happened years ago, a woman was raped by a black guy, she said she remembered everything because she wanted to be able to tell the police after it. She gave her description, it was very detailed, a man was arrested spent 8 years in prison i think only for dna to prove he was not the rapist. Another man was arrested with the crime.

I wonder how many people have been wrongly accused in a similar way....

@Mark7BD yes but when you've been tied up, at gunpoint, with your wife and children crying, as they run off with your belongings, you hit them in the head with a baseball bat giving them brain damage, then the guy with brain damage gets let off, while you spend years in prison....oh yeah this was on the news ^_^
Whoa, that's messed up!

Wow this makes me really doubt the judicial system and eyewitness testimonies. Imagine how many people were falsely imprisoned before scientific testing etc.
