Many people have reported issues with HDMI output on their Herotab MID 816 and R2 android tablets.
This demonstration shows that a handshaking/EDID issue is most likely responsible.
In the foreground is a 32" Samsung LCD. HDMI output works flawlessly with this TV.
In the background is a Panasonic 50" Plasma. HDMI output completely broken with this TV.
The still frame that you see on the plasma isn't even 720p (which is the setting the tablet has been configured for). It is 480p which is the TV's default standby state when waiting for input. The handshaking negotiation failure prevents this from continuing and other times the screen would remain blank.
The Samsung is simply more forgiving of non-compliant handshaking behaviour.
* HDCP enabled or disabled makes no difference.
* The same cable is used on both TVs and multiple cables have been tested.
*Software on the tablet is 0531 factory firmware.
