Seeing Stars [Chapter 1]

Finally vacation! Hopefully everyone had a great holiday.

Chapter 1

Emma continued down the street, and stopped at the library. Her friend Alyssa worked their on the weekends.
"Hey Lyssa. How;s work?" She leaned on the front desk, where Alyssa was checking some papers or something.
"Eh." She shrugged. "Boring, but, hey, I get minimum wage. So its not all bad."
"True, so speaking of which, wanna go to the mall later? There is this new skate shop and they have the coolest helmets!"
An old librarian turned to them, "Shh!" They kept it to a whisper.
Only you would get excited about helmets.
"I have a reason to get excited! Plus, dont you want to try that new license out?"
Alyssa beamed, she got her license before Emma, and she was proud of it too.
"Yeeah, But you gotta wait. I get out in about 10 minutes. So, go look for a book or something." Emma did just that. She went to her favorite book of all time: Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. She had to of read it about 4 times. And that;s actually a lot, considering the unabridged version was over 1,000 pages long. When she last left off, she was at the part where Gavroche was about to die. It made her tear up every time. When Alyssa waved to her, signaling that her shift was over, Emma got up to put the book away. But by mistake she bumped into someone.
"Oh, sorry."
"Its ok." He said. "You like Les Mis?"
"Yeah, I read it about 5 times already." Ok, so only 4, but whatever, she thought.
"Wow, you have some serious time on your hands."
"Well, I end up waiting for my friend a lot."
"And I;m waiting for you, come on. I thought you wanted to go shopping?" Alyssa said, walking over.
"What? Oh, yeah. Well, sorry again."
And she put the book back. Still thinking about the blue-eyed boy. But, she grabbed her purple skateboard, and matching helmet, and got into Alyssa;s car. Emma looked in the mirror.
"Uggh. I hate my hair."
"Why? Your hair is really pretty! Like, its almost red, but its brown."
"Its called auburn. But with my green eyes, its always holiday colors."
"Emms, I would kill to have your hair and eyes."
"Aww. You would commit an illegal act to look like me? Aww." Emma tried to hug Alyssa, but when she did, the car started to swerve.
"Dont!" Alyssa yelled. Emma immediately let go. They rode along quietly for a couple more minutes.
"So, since you have your license, are you gonna skate with me anymore?"
"Yes! Just not to school all the time. But I can pick you up."
"Sounds like a plan, Stan."
"I'm Alyssa."
"And I'm Emma."
"That;s a shocker." Then they pulled into the mall parking lot. They both got out, and started for the entrance.
"So, who was that guy you were flirting with?"
"Huh?"
"That guy, back in the library."
"Oh, I bumped into him by mistake."
"Bumped into him? Sure it wasnt like hum-" Emma whacked her.
"You have one sick mind, you know that right?"
"Hey, Im just saying what I saw."
"Well, for the record, I BUMPED into him." They got into the mall, and headed for the skate shop.
