Thank you for that - I'm a "Godmother of War" of a Band of Brothers at the Ardennes American Cemetery, and a representant for the AWON in Belgium. We can never thank them and their families enough for what they gave for us.
May they Rest in Peace and their sacrifice never be in vain!

I was never so aware of the sheer magnitude, the numbers involved, the
distant countries our troops are resting in! God bless them & their families.

Every Saturday night, our local country station WFMS does a country gold show. Tonight (due to Memorial Day), they played this song. The DJ said the man sing'n was Kitty's husband. Great classic country! Made you feel! Thank you all servicemembers! God Bless the U.S.A.!

that is Miss Kittys' husband, Johnny Wright and his singing partner Jack Anglin. Jim Anglin actually wrote the song and sold it to Roy Acuff.

Has ALWAYS sounded to me like Hank Williams Sr. is singing harmony with her on this song...especially on clearer versions of it.

These cemeteries are "Sovern American Soil" within the borders of other nations. These soldiers died to liberate the nations where they now rest.
