According to Thor Heyerdahlthe Norwegian mythology tells that the Scandinavian god Odin moved with his people to Norway from a land called Aser, in order to avoid Roman occupation. A 13th-century historian's description of Aser's origination matches that of Azerbaijan: east of the Caucasus mountains and the Black Sea.

Heyerdahl and other scholar are convinced that people living in the area now known as Azerbaijan settled in Scandinavia around 100 AD. Roman troops arrived in Azerbaijan in 97 AD.

Odin came from the land of the "Aser" (Aeser), and is, therefore, frequently referred to as "Asa-Odin" (Aser-Odin).
Asgard or Ásegard is the realm of the Gods Aser in Norse religion and Norse mythology. The exact meaning of "Asgard is Aser Land or the Land of Aser". Modern day Scandinavians migrated north from the east of the Caucasus, Aserbaijan (Azerbaijan/Caucasian Albania) in prehistoric times. According to Icelandic Sagas, written in the 13th century, the Norse God Odin migrated from the east of the Caucasus, from Aserbaijan in the first century AD.

Heyerdahl concluded that Azerbaijan and not northern Europe was the center from which the Caucasian people spread so that Chinese archaeologists would find their 4000 years old remains buried in northwestern China. He based that conclusion on early Norwegian sagas written down by the Icelander, Snorre Sturlason, before his death in 1241, (Snorri, The Sagas of the Viking Kings of Norway. English translation: J. M. Stenersens Forlag, Oslo 1987).

  • It could be possible that the people in both these regions are descendants from the ten tribes of Israel who fled north from Assyria after the collapse of Nineveh. The Assyrians took the ten Israelite tribes of northern Israel captive back to Assyria. After Assyria's collapse it is said that the ten Israelite tribes fled north to escape the destruction.

  • Very interesting that you point out to the tribes of Israel, its true one tribe settled in the Caucasus they still excist there and are called Mountain Jews, most of the are in Azerbaijan.

  • @TheSeth1211

I think Odin was from one of the Scythian Tribes who were Iranians, specifically the Massagetae" which means "great" Getae and in Western Sweden the people were called Geats

  • So the story of Odin is that he comes from Ásgarðr, or 'Æsir Garden', which could be a clear sign. However, Æsir may have roots with Greek Æthere which means sky, and therefore maybe even Eden. So these words may just be roots of heaven or sky, which could contradict this Azerbaijan theory. Unless of course there is some relevance of the Caucasus region to the Greeks. I don't know much about Proto-Greeks. Perhaps 'Azer-' comes from the mythology, rather than the other way round.

  • @Primastalker Do you know the name of the song?

  • They refer to a 13th-centrury writer, I supposed they are referring to Icelander Snorri Sturluson. He is known to have written fancifully, to change stories (a "no-no" is historical writings) as in his "historical book "Heimskringla-History of the Kings of Norway". Also, he was writing about Odin/Woden's origin 1,200 years after the fact and almost 300 years after Icelanders adopted Christianity .Germanic Ethnology

  • Norwegian song<3

  • in this are u have something called the asshovsea ass is æsir and hov was what the vikings called their pagan church could ofc be coinsidence. then u have the name asserbadjan with ass in front of it. not far from there is jerevan with the word van in it van was the other viking godsmany of the "gods" that came with odin to scandinavia was vans like frøy and frøya.

  • Snorri Sturluson, the odlest source of germanic mythology, said that Odin, a Turk, mvoed to norwar with his 3 sons. One of withwas called Sigi, know to us franks as Sigebert.

Israel never existed as a national territory before 1947, so the Germans are not hebrews, but can't trace their roots back to the Hittites.

  • Some say the teotihuacan god Quetzalcoatl was a viking, I would like to prove if such a travcel is posible like Thor did

  • @Anna4117 Ne Azerbaijanci, a udini (kavkazkaia albania bila takaia strana gde segodnia azerbaijana). Moia babushka udinka. Caucasian Albanians could well be related to the Vikings. What some Norwegians were wrong on though was that modern-day Azeris are same people as Caucasian Albanians.

  • Bull shit.....Who ever made this is a damn trol.
