  • Definately the best contemporary interpreter of the four last songs.

  • Oh my God... i feel I can't stand so much beauty... my body and mind are just too small....

  • That girl could whistle Strauss and it would be awesome - if you can't tell she sings Strauss from her heart check your pulse, you might be dead.

  • Renee Fleming really does own this music—her feeling and ownership, as well as her voice, as just right for this music. She was such a superb Marschallin. Goosebumps.

  • It iscertainly the best interpretation, since Gundula Janowitz

  • @MOGGS1942 I agree: Wow those chest notes! But I think Jessye's is the definitive one. A remarkable piece of music; sorry I couldn't enjoy more of Strauss --- too much tune-spinning for my ears.

  • @brychar66 I can only assume, therefore, that you haven't heard Jessye Norman sing them. I don't think that it's possible to single out any particular artist as producing the best, most definitive versions. There are many fine interpretations. Many prefer Schwartzkopft, but I don't like her version. All down to personal taste/choice,at the end of the day. This version is excellent,by the way.

  • great!!!

  • I entirely agree! She is the best Strauss interpreter-ess around.
