@Vajrasiddha You start with something called a "leader" which is just a piece of yarn tied to the bobbin. The bobbin is what the yarn is collected on to.
The only place I ever saw a Spinning Wheel was in Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty Book, I saw when I was younger. 30 years later and I still don't understand how they work.
So this is what I have gathered, you take animal hairs/fur/wool and feed them thru the spinning wheel and it binds them together to make yarn which rolls it up on the spindle. My question is how do you feed the fibers in and get it started?

Some people spin in the grease from locks but most use rovings.
