  • I agree that the formal Yoshinkan movements appear to be stiff. I think that one of the reasons for it is that it makes it easier (didactically) to teach and gradually improve, focusing on the finer elements of the Dosa. In every style of Aikido I've experienced, there's an emphasis on being Relaxed while exercising Dynamic 'Tai-Sabaki'.

Your more than welcome to look up Yoshinkan videos of Chida Sensei, Payet Sensei, Ando Sensei, Joe Thambu Sensei etc. - I don't think they're waza is stiff...

  • Patern sie agrees however details ran away unknown quantity where.

Friend does not know with what hiriki, henka are and dosa

  • you got names for exercises we dont have exercises in traditional aikido , we got singular movmeents. we call these like tenkan irimi irimi tenkan tsugi ashi ayumi ashi shikko torrifune furitama katien
  • Each movement is stated while it is being exercised.

In this video there are 6 basic movements:

from '1) Tai no Henkou 1' until '6) Shumatsu Dosa 2'.

You might be getting confused with the names of exercises you usually do with a partner in your training (notice the movements/names are slightly different, yet the same principles are emphasized) - if you wish, look up 'Kihon Dosa to Kanren Waza' - same movements being done with partners (+ some applied waza).

    Hope this makes things clearer...

  • can someone write to me the movments one by one? because the movements arent writtien just the exercise is.

  • they are always so stiff but i like that they are very clear

  • good form and basic. just make sure you'll learn to move dynamically soon and not being so stiff. Most yoshinkan are so stiff. the muscles are not relax if i'm not wrong. in our randori, the attackers attacked at the same time and would really hunt you down, so you should be very fast. if you're stiff it won't work.
