This is the Close Down or Sign Off from Capital 7 for the night in 1982.

The poem by Dorothea Mackellar, which is "My Country" or sometimes refered to as My Sunburnt Country, is put to song for this Close Down.

It is Very Long and even as some verses of the poem in the clip.

There is only a voice over at the start and the rest only has song.

I have cut some of the time between the anthem and the test patten, to make it not so long.

This Video has been put on Youtube for Educational and Historical Purposes, if is a problem, I will remove the clip, Thank You.

  • NBN-3 Newcastle also used that National Anthem Sequence. And yes I I've seen a video on here of SAS-7 using the song version of my country.

  • Thanks for your comment

  • Actually, here in Adelaide they did use the singer when opening in the mornings, but when closing used a voice over with a run down of programmes for the next night. Thanks for posting, always nice to come across some of the old close downs!

  • Thank you for the extra information and comment.

  • Great clip!! Glad to see a clip from Canberra and the test pattern at the end.
