@Songsmirth you don't necessarily have to be touching them, just very close to cast on them.

I'm new and on a PC. How do I touch someone and cast a spell at the same time? It's driving me nuts! Thanks. :) Songs

If you make custom spells, know that touch spells cast faster than self. My reccomended effect for each school:
Restoration: anything except "Absorb"
Mysticism: Dispel
Conjuration: anything but "Turn Undead"
Alteration: Open Lock (cast on a door above the level of the spell)
Illusion: Charm
For Destruction use Drain Health for 3 pts for 1 sec on self. That way you can literally cast forever without worrying about killing yourself, since drain is only a temporary effect.
