the abandoned rail yard that is located in dunellen NJ is a former part of the CNJ Main line. it has been abandoned for years but not so long ago dunellen had steam engine rides were a day before they would park the steam engines in the rail yard right were the abandoned work train is on this video. in the middle were me and my friend were riding our bikes there use to be 2 tracks in the center of the rail yard but the were taken out long before the yard was even abandoned. this railyard also once served as an engine terminal and was used to park engines and even had a turn table and round house

  • this looks more like a switching area than a yard. its way to small to be a yard.

  • @Darkkheart420 it use to be the entire area. all the builds around it were train tracks at one point

  • does it still conect to a main line?

  • @username5515 yes

  • This looks to me like narrow guage. Probably served local companys

  • @shnimmuc naw my old camera makes it look like that, its really 4ft by 8 and 1/2

  • My guess is that this "yard" is part of the industrial property which it served. To remove the tracks would devalue the property.

  • Nice video. Have always been fascinated by abandoned tracks, etc.

  • @paintballsniper5

Does it still connected to the main railroad lines. Why would they leave those railroad track there? They should take off the railroad tracks it would just get in the way.

Dude, they are heavy as hell (roughly 155lb per yard). Now if I could steal one, with that kind of physical strength, I would.

  • @SidVanRyswyk Oh, so you tried, huh. It just amazes me, that no one has stolen the rails, cause you here all the time of people climbing 40 ft extension ladders onto church roofs to steal copper, and other metals. So if they go to that extent on stealing things, the rails are right on the ground.

  • @JamesReadythe5th It's really difficult to steal steel rails, trust me...

  • Look at all that money in scrap steel rails just sitting there. I'm surprised no ones stolen them.
