DO NOT ASK ME WHERE I GOT THIS OR IF I CAN SEND IT TO YOU. Thanks.

One thing I've decided to do here on Youtube is upload videos of rare/strange games that people might be interested in seeing in motion, but do not have access to them. It's easier to see a streaming video than deal with the hassle of acquiring most games.

This is the unreleased Jazz Jackrabbit 3D beta. History on Jazz:

Jazz Jackrabbit filled a hole in PC gaming: The side-scrolling platformer. While the Sega Genesis got Sonic, and Nintendo had Mario, plus countless clones of each, the PC never really got games like that - until Jazz Jackrabbit came along. Jazz combined the speed of Sonic, the platforming of Mario, and the gun play of Contra into one really great game, and it was one of the games that helped transform Epic MegaGames (who would later go on to make Unreal and Unreal Tournament) into what they are today.

Jazz Jackrabbit 3D was to be the third installment of this popular series, built on the Unreal '99 engine. Unfortunately, despite Jazz Jackrabbit 2 being a critical success, it was not a very profitable game to make, and Epic had a tough time finding a publisher for Jazz 3. In May 2000, the game was officially canned.

All that remains is this proof-of-concept beta. The video will be uploaded in 3 seperate 10 minute parts, showing most (but not quite all) of the beta.

  • i wonder is it possible to beat the "Lava Boss"??? if there is a way u shoud tell me :D

  • @ivo0100 You just gotta keep shooting it. It'll eventually die, but it takes a long time. Nothing special happens or anything. It just unlocks a nearby cage where a rabbit walks out, and if you talk to them they tell you to wait for the full game.

  • is this cancelled?

    is this for PC?

  • I dunno! If only there were some way to find out this information, like reading the description to a video...

  • How come we can't ask you why? I know we will never get this but how come? Did you work for them?

  • Because it's probably illegal. Besides, it's not like it's hard to find if you really, really want to play it.

  • I beat that lava boss. But when I did, I didn't know what to do afterwards. Apparently I had to get behind the castle somehow. I couldn't figure it out and there are no walkthroughs past that on the INTERNET! So I quit. :3 You can kill him by getting on the edge of the castle wall and shooting him from there and he can't get you. :D

  • I can imagine this would be a better competitive multiplayer than Gears of War or Unreal Tournament.

  • there is nothing wrong with 3D, if only they made the transition right.

jazz 1 and 2 were classic platformers with speed, puzzles, great music and some shooting. Jazz 3 was a new experiment: making the green rabbit a 3rd-person-shooter hero with enemies that don't die in one shot and shoot back, level designs taken not from Sonic but from Quake (or Unreal) and bosses that are basically regular enemies with a ton of HP. it's no surprise that this experiment failed miserably. this just isn't Jazz.

  • Uggh, now here's a character we should be spending a decade trying to bring back properly, not Duke Nukem

  • Kind of a shame it was not released, but jazz was best as a side scroller anyway.

  • is there anyway to save game?

  • Hey, you didn't do the tutorial level! :)

  • @ryubakura27722 Yea, it's cancelled :S. You can find this demo in the web, but isn't very playable because it's incomplete.
