WSU student Haley Paul talks about why organic agriculture, sustainability and buying local are so important to her. Smart and articulate, Haley is from "the big city"--Phoenix, Arizona. So how did a city girl end up falling in love with organic ag?
Hi Haley, great to see young people such as yourself involved with organic family farming. Aside from food miles and reducing our dependence on foreign oil, another reason for small organic family farms is to move away from our dependency on corporate farms and more towards self sufficiency. Large national and multi-national corporate farms are concerned only about profits and care little about the true quality of food and through seed patents are controlling more & more production of our food.
