Bomb Jack (Arcade) Round 1

Bomb Jack was a short lived series that started with this game in 1984 for Arcades. The Arcade version is shown in this video, but the game was also ported to several systems, mainly old home computers like the Commodore 64 and the Amiga. The gameplay might seem too basic to a lot of people, but keep in mind it's an old game. You can only jump, by the way you jump extra high (about half the level height), do not touch the enemies or you die in one hit. If you defuse at least 20 out of 24 bombs in the order they lit (which I do not manage to do in this video), you get a bonus and power-ups are supposed to appear more often. There are several power-ups, but the one I get in this video is the P, which renders all the enemies vulnerable for a short time, like when Pac-Man eats a power pellet, except they also stop moving in Bomb Jack.

I played this game for about 4 months then gave it to my brother. In 3 days he had beaten my high score. He worked out that you get a huge bonus if you collect all the flashing bombs in sequence. 4 months and I hadn't figured that out! what a lemon lol

@rdm100571 I've made more than 22,000,000 on the real arcade machine (something like a 10 hours game, no pause) , and on MAME I recently (2007/2008) made 15 millions. don't ask me the level number...

I love this game and play it all the time on my pcb arcade cab. I dont remember it being in the arcades though.

Great Nostalgia Trip.

This was a game that you could almost die, and just 'squeeze' by an ememy, or linger in the air, dodging and diving past the birds and bombs, Awesome game!!
