Every year around St. Patrick's Day, in a tradition whose origins go back more than 100 years, an enormous dragon created by the first-year architecture students parades across the campus.

Dragon Day is an annual event at Cornell University. It occurs on the Friday before the university's Spring Break, in mid-March.

The center of the event is the procession of the dragon past the College of Engineering and into the Arts Quad.

There it has been traditionally burned amidst yelling and dancing. In 2010 its wooden heart was burned in the middle of the square.

Directed by a Hungarian Hubert Humphrey fellow.
