My Canon HV30 High Definition Video Camcorder

nice, i got the vixia hv40... not much difference except progressive 24 fps recording.. runs tapes slower to get the actual 24fps video.

So you can't use a Camcorder as a webcam via USB on a Mac?

Cause I have the MacBook Pro late 2008 unibody and it doesn't have firewire :(

I have Canon Optura XI DV cam and shoot with no tape and no SD card. Just firewire cable to MacBookPro into iChat or QuickTime or iMovie. Sound comes from camera mics but I'll be trying connecting to sound desk to take sound from stage mics when shooting my son's band Black River Drive.
