About 150 Michigan National Guard Soldiers from the Greenville-based 1073rd Maintenance Company returned home to their family & friends Saturday.
A homecoming ceremony took place at 10 a.m. at the Greenville Armory.
The soldiers were in Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They departed in December 2009 for mission specific training at Camp Shelby, Miss., according to a news release, and performed numerous security and escort missions.
Soldiers 24 Hour News 8 spoke with said, besides meeting their family and friends, they were looking forward to having home-cooked meals and fresh Michigan food as soon as possible.
