I Wish We Had snow In New York

I have two atari 7800's. Some guy was throwing them away and gave them to me.
I wish i had cables, controllers, and games. Those are hard to find and really expensive on eBay. :(

Damn ... seeing that SEGA Master System in the background really takes me back!!
I remember buying games for it, just before I actually got the console ...
The good old days!!

This is my favorite system ever believe it or not. My parents bought me this when i wanted NES because it would play our old Atari 2600 games. I am in process to collecting the other 55 or so i don't have. But what a pain. Every retro game store i go to has none or the ones i have. Looking forward to going to Digital Press to fill in same gaps! Love the videos keep them coming.

You are absolutely right! The 7800 was "old and crusty" when it came out, focusing heavily on those old arcade games.. BUT, like you said, it does give it a certain charm today, over 25 years later. Many of those arcade ports are still some of the best versions, ironically, so it's great revisiting them. And the fact that it's cheap doesn't hurt, either! ;)

I thought I was the only one that is down enough to wear a t-shirt and shorts on a snowy day :D. Anyways, I recently heard your channel from the All Gen Gamers podcast teaser video. Watched your video and subscribed to your channel :D.
Metal, firstly, great videos, you rock! Secondly, can you clarify why the 1983 "crash" is remembered as being so huge and damaging? I'm in the UK, I'm 32, and I was 5 yrs old in 1983; here in the uk, there was no "crash"; micro computers were in the majority, not consoles; I only knew about the 5200, 7800, colecovision and vectrex in the last 12 years, we had the sinclair zx81, spectrum, acorn atom, bbc b, the commore PET, vic 20 an c16/c64, and these continued non-stop throughout the 80's.

@steveelmy - The Video Game Crash of 1983 primarily occurred in North America. Basically low quality games, and over saturation caused most retail stores to stop carrying games and consoles. And it appeared to happen over night. Several big game developers went bankrupt and closed and it looked like the video game "fad" was over. Thankfully, home computers and eventually Nintendo & Sega kept it alive!

what emulator are you using bud?

@jyatzy123 - I used the MESS emulator on my XP machine. It's a little friendlier to configure than the OSX version (which I would normally prefer)
