This is the first time Ozzy has EVER worked with long reins. I still can't believe he changed direction so effortlessly. Special thanks to Melinda's Aunt Audrey for her lesson on long reining [See Video Log]. I kept hearing her voice in my head while I was doing this. Hmmm... that makes hearing voices in your head a good thing, right?

  • sweet horse ^^

  • Why thank you! :)

  • So what was Mel doing standing behind you?

That turn was seriously impressive! Ozzy is so awesome!

  • Yeah, well... you should have seen him tonight. We tried to work in the ring--at night--with Duncan and another horse. BAD idea. Ozzy flipped a shit and went charging over to Duncan three times. Two of the three he took off with such power that he ripped the reins from my hands. (Needless to say, I don't have skin on my hands any more.) Duncan was awesome and just chilled out and didn't care.

  • *Sigh* sometimes I forget he's a baby because he's so good most of the time. When he did that, Mel said it best, "Now THAT is yearling behavior." ;) I'll try and get some of his insanity on camera too.

  • Haha! Mel was acting as my whip because Ozzy was so uninspired and didn't want to trot. I asked her to help me move him along a little bit. I didn't want to use the whip because I didn't want him him to flip out from feeling the restriction of the reins while trying to move away from the whip.

  • Haha. I'm listening to "Such Great Heights" by The Postal Service and for a couple of minutes there your horses footsteps fell perfectly with the beat of the song. lol.
