On Thursday 25 September 2008, Ms. Mona Eltahawy delivered a lecture entitled Generation Facebook - How Blogs and Social Networking Sites are changing the Arab World. The main theme was that new technologies have given a voice to the voiceless, especially in the Arab World.
In the muslin world, blogging has become a venue for explaining and exposing political situations where normally people cannot express their dissatisfaction with their current realities. Women are also becoming more involved in denouncing oppression and discrimination through the web.
trying to say is that people need to lift their heads out of their religious doctrine, and look at the condition of the world. There are many people with issues that need to be dealt with, there are so many countries destitute, there are so many people taking their own lives feeling their is no way out of their adversity. We ALL need to come together and stop fighting against each other because we are saying the same thing. Focus on reformation of the heart and the mind.

1/2 There is always propaganda in every religion. Hence the Christian world with many different denomination, believing their way is right and others is wrong. I was part of an organization where women wore skirts, no makeup, no earrings that was so called based on several scriptures. We thought others were wrong and we were part of the "chosen" ones in heaven. But I hated it and became very depressed and when I grew older left the church. Some refuse to speak to me, some do. e.g. She calls herself a muslima but the majority of the muslims will surely not accept that,as she doesn't ware a hijab.
The "strength and danger" of islam lies in the multiple possible interpretations of the ancient arabic words, leading to million different individual versions of it, and million individual muslims who think THEIR version is the right one, when its merely their own interpretation. AND claiming THEY are right, being convinced that what THEY think and do with it,is Islam...

Her weakness is the same weakness that all muslims have: she absolutely avoids questioning Islam - as she's a muslim.
It is not a concidence that he first suicide warriors ever noted in history, were Muslims under Nor Edin: the so called hassjasins( les assassins): the ones that smoked hasj before throwing themseleves in the fight with the cruisaders.

Well yeas and no: how intelligent this woman may be : she proofs to have her own perception on things. Thats why she tries to blow away the clear connection of suicide killing and islam, by saying: ANY civilisation knowes suicide killings. The way she puts it, it sounds right but it isn't. Suicide attack do not occur in the West. It needs a fanatic system or a fanatic believe like Islam. Any muslim is fanatic in his believe, otherwise he wouldn't be a muslim.
