  • I forget what the duration is.

Yes a shroud is in the works. Nice thing is I live by the beach. Never gets too hot around here.

  • It's the 403 lunati cam. Basically just like the comp 268. For easy start up make sure you have the dizzy pointed at #1 cylinder at TDC. I was out 180* on the first crank. Fired immediately once I rotated it. Nice little fireball though :) Runs great.

  • Thanks guys. She runs good. It's the Eddy Rpm Performer Dual plane intake. I'm running an aluminum radiator. Mine was running hot before but the engine was not breathing to well before the cam swap and headers. Much better now. The underdrive pulleys don't help the temps much either but i can deal with 190-200* on the hottest days.

  • @daves66valiant Also you should be aware that the dist has mechanical and vaccum advance mechs, if you are above an idle by much you cannot set the timing by the damper with a light even with the vaccum plugged off, to bad about the 180 out deal, thats sumthing that should be checked by you and all engine mechanics, But the comp cams really should note that mopar should line up at twelve and twelve, I caught it because i wasnt in a rush not by being a genius lol !!

  • Hey just thot i would share, if you line the dots up on a comp double roller cam at 6 and crank at twelve its puts u tdc on the exhaust stroke, wich is 180 out on the dist, !!!! you have to rotate the crank once to put on tdc compression on a la mopar, simply look at the cam lobes to be sure the intake isnt the next to open, it should be ex lobe coming up not the intake, the dist turns clockwise, and the slot should be at eleven and five, just a little fyi, i didnt learn the hardway but.....

  • what kind of carb and cam is that?

  • @Wingnutt2420 Any tips or tricks to a smooth first start??? Are you joking? Does it look like this guy knows? It sounds like shizzle. Maybe if he spent less time at Pep Boys looking for shiny stuff and more time mathing out the necessities he'd be better off. Backfire through the Carburetor on a first run? God help us all.

  • Where did you get the gage cluster at? It's nice!

  • I thought its hard on the cam to let it die after first initial crank. Or is it more important to not let it idle? How do you go about setting the rings properly? Thanks

  • Is this a 60402 or 403 cam? Whats the duration @ .050? Thanks...

  • I'm putting in a MP Purple cam 221/228+.430/.450 110 centerline. What are your cam specs ? Nice lil' Valiant you got there. I'm swapping in a 360 where a piece of shit 225 /6 was on an 81 Cordoba. Wanna go with a Weiand or RPM Performer intake with a Thermoquad 600-700 cfm.
